VX Cuveé Caco; Caco, diminutive of Ricardo who was the father of Ricardo Carreiro, and this wine is a tribute to his figure. Caco recovered plots and cultivated many of the new vines, from his own winery.

Description

VX Cuveé Caco 2009; Selection in the field, harvest by hand in boxes of 18 Kg. Selection table. Pre-fermentation cold and FA maceration at controlled temperature in conical deposits of wood and stainless steel with frequent pumping in bazookas.

Delastage is applied for maximum extraction. FML in barrels. Aged for 20 months in new French (80) and American (20) 300 litre oak barrels in 2011. Bottle tuned for a minimum of 12 months.

Tasting….

  • Deep ruby.
  • Wooden spice, black fruits and liquorice on the nose.
  • Fragrant in the mouth. It shows very good depth and focus, with a quality vanilla that adds a sweet touch. It clings tenaciously in the spicy finish, framed by soft tannins.

Trade Name: VX Cuveé Caco 2009.

Vinification and aging: Aged for 20 months in barrels of new French (80) and American (20) 300 litre oak. Bottle tuned for a minimum of 12 months.

Varietals: Coupage de; Sousón, Caíño Longo, Caíño da Terra, Carabuñeira and Mencía.

Appellation of Origin: It doesn’t belong to any of them.

Floors: Shale (xistos) and clays.

Presentation: Elegant Burgundy bottle decorated in black, with 0.75 cl. of capacity.

Pairing: Red meats. Big Game. Cured cheeses, Galician stew, Fabada Asturian.
