Sardine preserves (Sardina pilchardus) is very complete and healthy for its high content of protein, omega-3 fatty acids, calcium and phosphorus.

The back is dark grey, blue and silver and along the flanks has a bluish band. The belly is silvery white. The fins are colorless, except for the dorsal, which is a little darkened.
