Description
Goliardo Caiño 2017; The winery is owned by Rodrigo Méndez, grandson of one of the founders of the Rías Baixas Denomination of Origin,Francisco Méndez.
It is a family winery, but with excellent vines of old vines. For a few years he has been in collaboration with the great and well-known winemaker Raúl Pérez.
Goliardo Caiño 2015 is a varietal caiño Tinto,a virtually extinct variety, from old vineyards planted very close to the sea that brings a special salinity to the wine.
Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks. The subsequent malolactic fermentation takes place in 225 litre French oak barrels, where it ages for 14 months.
Goliardo Caíño 2017 is a red in white soil. A red with a very marine character.
Tasting….
- Ruby red colour. Slow, thick tears.
- A lot of intensity on the nose. Red fruit such as currants, raspberries and wild strawberries. Balsamic, herbs of scrubland, eucalyptus, notes of toast and saline memories.
- Soft attack on the palate, tasty, with great prominence of red fruit along with soft spices and pleasant saline touches. Sweet tannins. Good structure, enveloping and persistent.
